Fort Meade, Florida
Fort Meade is located just south of Bartow, Florida and has a wealth of historical heritage as it dates back to 1849. Modern Day Fort Meade is a small town with less than ten thousand residents (2010), It can be found on the back country roads of central florida about halfway between Bowling Green and Bartow, Florida.
The Fort Meade historical Museum houses many of areas artifacts from the pages of history. The museum can be found in Fort Meade's historical district. Over 100 distinct buildings of historical nature can also be found within the district.
About half way between Fort Meade and Bartow lies Mosaic Peace River Park. The Park features boardwalks along the peace river and what was once a phosphate mine, including featured education exhibits.
Fort Meade has a collection of special events throughout the year, including the Florida Flywheelers, Alafia River Rendezvous, Christmas on broadway, and July's red hot and blue celebration to name a few.
